Internships give students the opportunity to experiment with different career paths, apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, and gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. Often, internships help students secure a job after college.
Modern Languages and Literatures' Chinese Program is proud to announce a new Chinese Internship pilot program with the Chinatown Service Center (CSC) in downtown L.A. Beginning spring 2020, students taking Chinese courses will be able to go to the CSC to tutor as volunteers. They will work with students in grades 3-9 on English, Math, Science, and History. Their feedback on this pilot program will help determine the feasibility and effectiveness of a long-term internship program with the CSC. This initiative is supported by a BCLA Engaged Learning Grant. To learn more about the pilot program, please contact the Chinese program director, Yu Li.
