Amber Yi-Hua Shih 2022-2023
I’m Yi-Hua from Taiwan. Being a Chinese teacher has been my goal since I was very young. I love to communicate with people, and have great enthusiasm to share my professional knowledge.
I major in Chinese Literature, minor in Japanese and completed two programs including Teaching Chinese as Second Language Program, and Education Program for Secondary School Teachers. To acquire more academic knowledge, I attended graduate school and completed master degree of Chinese literature in NCCU. My dissertation is about Chinese lexicology, focusing on how the vocabularies develop and transform.
Beside the academic knowledge, I also have rich experiences of teaching and extracurricular activities. I was the Chinese tutor of Richmond University, and a practice teacher in Taipei Municipal Zhong Shan Girls High School. Meanwhile, I was the executor of Chinese lesson during my internship. To understand more about the education environment in Europe, I applied for an exchange program to Germany during my graduate life. To experience a different life, I went to Indonesia as a teaching volunteer. These experiences make me more resilient and make my life colorful.
Teaching brings me great joy and is something that I am very passionate about. It’s a grate pleasure to be a FLTA in LMU. I’m looking forward to teaching my native language and sharing culture to LMU students!
