After teaching English for 25 years in Taiwan, Jessie starts a new chapter in her life to teach Mandarin Chinese. She holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from California State University Fullerton and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Tamkang University, Taiwan. Jessie resigned from her full-time teaching position to take care of her family and became a part-time lecturer at Tunghai University, Taiwan for two decades. When she became an empty nester, she took training courses on Mandarin teaching and passed the qualification examinations held by the Taiwan government. She was awarded the Certificate of Qualification to Teach Mandarin Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan. Jessie says, "With my husband’s encouragement, I applied to become a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) and was blessed to be one!"

Jessie is a warm, optimistic, and enthusiastic person; she teaches to kindle students' passion for learning. It is her nature to share, to love, and to help. Her personal motto is “Learning is for life. Curiosity never retires!”  Being a Fulbrighter, Jessie aims to go the extra mile to be a Friendly, Lively, and Trustworthy Ambassador at LMU!
