Junting Chien 2025-2026

Hi I’m Junting from Taiwan. I have always been passionate about language learning and cultural
exchange since I was young. Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University with a
bachelor’s degree in Education, I focused specifically on language and culture education.
During my college years, I engaged in a Chinese-English language exchange program and
worked as a teaching assistant for the bilingual teacher training program of Taipei City.

I enjoyed designing refreshing curricula, combining my pedagogical knowledge with digital tools
to create interactive class activities. I especially excel at integrating youth culture and current
issues into my curriculum to develop real-life scenarios.

Besides language teaching, I also developed an interest in political science and became
engaged in public affairs and policy. In my final year at university, I participated in the Political
Staff Training Camp hosted by the Asia Pacific Association. Acting as a think tank, I provided
insights on Taiwan’s bilingual education and assisted in drafting a statement for the Ministry of
Education. In addition, I engaged in NTNU’s gender policy by conducting a student opinion
report on gender-friendly restrooms on campus as a member of NTNU Student Union.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be a Fulbright FLTA at LMU. Growing up in Taiwan, I see
cultural sharing as more than just introducing boba or Taipei 101. I believe cultural exchange is
about showing how people live and think within their cultural context. During my Fulbright year
at LMU, I look forward to interacting with people here, listening to and sharing each other’s
cultures, including history, institutions, and the stories of people.
