StudyLA (the Center for the Study of Los Angeles) is partnering with the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts to launch a new StudyLA Summer Fellows Program designed to give motivated students insider knowledge into Los Angeles, meaningful professional experience, professional development skills, and a head start in their careers. Selected fellows will be placed with leading partner organizations in the greater Los Angeles area and will receive a $5,000 stipend for their participation in the program.
 
The StudyLA Summer Fellows Program provides a robust experiential learning opportunity for those pursuing careers in policy and public service. Participants will be matched to civic-minded fellowship opportunities in LA based on their interests and availability. The program will last for 8 weeks with one day each week reserved for educational excursions and professional development.

Program Overview:

  • Fellows will be placed at host organizations based on interests and fit.
  • Each fellow will receive a $5,000 stipend (housing is not provided; applicants may choose instead to accept a $2,500 award with housing provided if they choose).
  • The program runs from May 18 to July 10, 2026.
  • Fellowships are in-person. Fellows will be on location Monday – Thursday; Fridays will be reserved for educational excursions and professional development.

  • LA Department of Water and Power
  • LA City Council District 11

Application Process:

We encourage highly motivated students with a strong interest in civic-focused work in and around Los Angeles to apply. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain professional experience, build networks, and contribute meaningfully to organizations engaged in civic issues. Before completing the online application form, applicants should be ready to:

  • Answer questions related to their interests and reason for applying
  • Upload an updated resume
  • Include contact information for three references

Applications due by Friday, Mar 13, 2026.
Finalists will be invited for an interview.
