Shannon Hayes | Modern Languages & Classics and Archaeology Majors, Asian and Pacific Studies Minor '18

Shannon Hayes '18, a Modern Languages (French and Chinese) and Classics and Archaeology major –who is also minoring in Asian and Pacific Studies, had a productive summer in China. Shannon spent five weeks in Xi'an in a program of the Yangguanzhai Archaeological Field School. She participated in the excavation of a Neolithic site alongside fellow archaeology students and professors from UCLA, Xibei University, and the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology. Shannon tells us, “It was a great experience in international collaboration,especially when it came to East-West dialogue on archaeological methods and techniques.”
