Conference on "Channeling Grace through Art"
On January 21st 2015, Prof. Katerina Zacharia hosted and presented a BCLA-funded conference on “Channeling Grace through Art: Devotional Practices across spiritual Traditions.” The conference was comprised of four discussion panels on: ritual objects; ritual words, song, dance; congregational and solitary prayer; art making as devotional practice, each chaired by an LMU Professor. Twenty representatives of different faiths and traditions, and academic speakers from the Getty Museum, Fuller Seminary, Pepperdine University, UC Riverside, Stanford University, as well as Orthodox and Catholic clergy, a Buddhist monk, a Muslim and a Jewish calligraphist, and an Indian dancer, were among the speakers.
