ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Yorgos Avgeropoulos is an acclaimed Greek documentary filmmaker and journalist. A former war correspondent, he founded the long-running Exandas documentary series in 2000. His work focuses on social inequality, human rights, and the economic crisis in Greece, documented in his feature films AGORA – From Democracy to the Market and Chained – AGORA II, both widely praised by European media, with AGORA named Film of the Year in 2015 by Haus des Dokumentarfilm.

Avgeropoulos's work has been broadcast on television and screened in cinemas around the world, and it has been honored with more than 40 international awards, including the Fipa d'Argent (FIPA, France) Rockie Award (Banff World Media Festival, Canada), Gold Hugo (Chicago International Film Festival TV Awards), Orpheus Award (Los Angeles Greek Film Festival) and the Audience Award of the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
