ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Born in Athens, Yiannis Kostavaras has been a professional film editor since 1996. He has served as the chief editor for many movies, documentaries, and commercials. Kostavaras has been previously awarded in film festivals and was nominated by the Hellenic Film Academy for Best Film Editor in 2013. Considered one of Greece's new generation film editors, Kostavaras prides himself on his ability to correlate rhythm and images, and his skill has helped bring about a revival of the art of editing in Greek filmography. In 2012, Kostavaras broadened his focus to include film directing. As a film director, he has made commercials for many well-known companies such as Coca Cola Greece, Aegean, Unilever Hellas, Bioten, Leaseplan, Hellmann's, and more. His first short film "Mothers" (2020) follows the monologues of three mothers who, in talking about their children, draw at issues of economic inequality, immigration, and poverty in modern society. The film was featured at multiple international film festivals.
