Spring 2026 China Global Immersion Trip Vlog

Vlog and reflection by Kai Donohue '28

This past semester, through Loyola Marymount University’s Global Immersion Program and the efforts of our professors, my classmates and I had the opportunity to travel across the world and explore two of China’s most historically rich cities. We were tasked with documenting our experiences throughout the trip so I decided to create a vlog capturing moments and sceneries that I found unforgettable from this trip. We began in the nation’s capital, Beijing, where we visited famous landmarks such as the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. Along the way, we were introduced to many new cuisines and cultural traditions, and every day was filled with interesting surprises and unexpected experiences. Later, we boarded a bullet train and traveled to Xi'an, one of China’s most culturally significant cities, considered the nation's roots and ancient capital. At night, Xi'an exploded with lights, music, and bustling streets filled with food vendors and small shops selling virtually anything. We bargained with storeowners, tried foods like ImageImage面, and explored monuments like the Terracotta Warriors and the ancient city wall. This trip was overflowing with unforgettable experiences, culture shock, and memories that I will carry with me for years to come. If you wish to be engulfed by some of China's most valuable cultural experiences and make strides in your language learning journey, this trip is something you shouldn't pass up on.
