A Farther Shore
April 21, 2021 | 12 p.m.
“A Farther Shore” is a series of panel discussions taking place across the U.S. throughout spring 2021 exploring the advent of Irish Independence in 1920-21.
Hosted by the Irish Studies Program at LMU and the Consulate General of Ireland Los Angeles, the LMU forum will focus on the Anglo-Irish treaty negotiations, which culminated in the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921, brought the Irish War of Independence to an end, and secured independence for the Irish Free State.
This event was held virtually via Zoom.
The event featured Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, Daniel Mulhall, in conversation with an excellent panel of scholars.
Moderator: Dermot Ryan (Director of Irish Studies, LMU)
Panelists: Dr. Amy Woodson-Boulton (LMU); Dr. Oliver Rafferty (Boston College); Dr. Kathryn McClurkin (Western Kentucky University)
