Where do we stand? A lunchtime conversation about Internationalization and the Liberal Arts at LMU
This year’s Bellarmine Forum invites students, faculty, and the entire LMU community to think about how we understand “internationalization” and how to break it down into what that actually means to us. In this opening event, we ask: How is internationalization more than an educational alibi for global structures of power? How do faculty and students experience the global and the local, both in our classes here in LA, a world-class city—and abroad, like in global immersion courses or study abroad experiences? Who benefits from this framework, and how does it connect to the magis of an LMU education?
Please join us for lunch and a roundtable conversation that centers on the experiences of students and faculty at home and abroad as we consider these questions and enjoy a meal together.
