Field Trip to Thomas Mann House
Visiting the Thomas Mann House in Pacific Palisades was another highlight of the German events
this semester. While in the library of Thomas Mann, our tour guide Clara Tang explained in
German how the greatest 20th century German writer was activly engaged in resiting Hitler's
fascist dictatorship during his exile in Southern California. Through learning about the great
moments of German culture, literature, the arts, and sciences, our German students are also
familiar with Thomas Mann's merits among many others.

German Oktoberfest 2024
"Ein Prosit zur Gemütlichkeit." Octoberfest is a beloved Bavarian tradition that students and faculty
members celebrated with German pretzels and soft drinks while listening to Octoberfest 2024 hits and
building friendships across the LMU campus. Sitting along the long "Wiesntisch" (medow table, Picture 5
and 6), reminded us of the "Theresienwiese" in the outskirts of Munich. To secure a seat at the
"Wiesntisch" in a small or a big beer tent, visitors usually make ahead of time a reservation. For further
tips, see! https://www.oktoberfest.de/en/beer-tents
