Course Enhancement Funding

This funding is designed to provide faculty with an opportunity to access funding that supports course enhancements that add to the educational experience of their students. This funding is secondary to departmental funding; so please request funding from your department before applying for this mini-grant. There are no specific limitations on the types of expenses that may be requested, but we expect that faculty might need items such as unique materials or computer programs, transportation to a community location, or tickets to a museum or events. Expenses up to $750 can be approved quickly as funding is available. Over this amount will require a secondary review. All funding is subject to the availability in the budget.

Due Date: First Friday of the Semester. Applications are approved on a rolling basis thereafter.

Applications received by the first Friday of each semester will receive priority review. Applications for Engaged Learning Flagged courses are now considered for up to $1500 per course.

  • Application Instructions

Engaged Learning courses require students to apply knowledge and skills gained in the classroom to a real-world problem or issue, connect the out-of-classroom experience with academic content, and reflect critically on the experience.  The goal of this funding is to remove barriers for students as they address the real work issue, and/or engage with communities.

    What Support Can I Request?

Faculty should apply for support that facilitates their students' and community partners’ ability to collaborate. Activities could include, but are not limited to the following:

    • student transportation
    • project materials
    • stipends for community members’ work with students
    • cost of events, including food, in order to connect with communities
    • translation services
    • incentives to engage community participants in-class research projects
Please direct any questions you have to the Director of Engaged Learning, Dr. Deanna Cooke (Deanna.Cooke@lmu.edu).
