ESRI GIS User Conference, San Diego

In July 2023, UREV Associate Professor Tyler Harlan and five UREV majors and minors attended the annual ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) User Conference in San Diego, CA. This is the largest gathering of GIS professionals in the world. UREV students attended conference sessions ranging from the use of GIS in wildlife conservation, to GIS and site selection for electric vehicle charging stations, to the use of AI tools for GIS analysis. Students were also able to network with young and established professionals from industry, government, and the non-profit sector. GIS is a core skill for LMU urban and environmental studies majors and minors, and this was a fantastic opportunity to see this growing field in action. We look forward to encouraging UREV students to attend in future years!
