Yoga Journey 200-hour Teacher Training

Yoga teacher leading students in practice

A foundational, 200-hour teacher training is designed for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice and knowledge, as well as those beginning their journey as yoga teachers. Students will learn all the essentials of Yoga: practice techniques, anatomy and physiology, the humanities of Yoga through philosophical texts, and the essentials needed to become a professional Yoga teacher.

In addition to becoming eligible for the Yoga Alliance 200-hour teacher registry, students will receive a transcript from Loyola Marymount University and complete 50 hours of our Core Philosophy Training.

We’re excited to welcome Dana Tarasavage, a graduate of our Master’s in Yoga Studies program, as this year’s philosophy instructor.

Dana Tarasavage, E-RYT, YACEP, is an Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga Yoga Instructor with over thirteen years of teaching experience. Her master’s degree in yoga studies at Loyola Marymount University, was with focus on Yoga Philosophy and Sanskrit. Dana has also studied postural yoga, chanting, and Sanskrit in Mysore, India.

Her curriculum includes:

  • 20 hours on the Yoga Sūtra (Fall)
  • 10 hours on the Bhagavad Gītā (January–February)
  • 10 hours on the Sāṃkhya Kārikā (February–March)
  • 10 hours on the Upaniṣads (March–April)

All classes will be live-streamed and recorded for on-demand access. Dana will also host one live weekend session per month for Q&A, especially for asynchronous learners.

This course will blend online instruction provided by Loyola Marymount University with face-to-face training at partner studios with close LMU affiliation in Los Angeles (USC) and Ventura (Breathe Ojai).
