Ayurveda for Beginners: A 5-Week Mini-Course

This mini-course introduces Ayurveda as a holistic, preventative, and individualized system of health. Students learn to recognize their mind-body constitution (prakriti), current imbalances (vikriti), digestive strength (agni), the formation and removal of ama (toxins), the roles of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), and core lifestyle strategies for diet, daily routine, detoxification, and mental-emotional balance. Weekly self-assessments help track change over the 5-week period.
Who This Course Is For:
• Students in health, integrative medicine, yoga studies, public health, wellness coaching, or related fields.
• Yoga teachers-in-training seeking an introduction to Ayurveda. Yoga postures included in course material for each dosha and 15 subdoshas.
• Beginners with no prior Ayurveda background.

Erin Jellison Rusler, M.A. YGST, PGYT, MS Ayurveda, E-RYT® 500, YACEP® Erin holds a Master of Arts in Yoga Studies and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy from Loyola Marymount University, as well as a Master of Science in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine from Maharishi International University. She has served at the Doshi Center for Integrative Health in Los Angeles, assisting renowned Ayurvedic physician Vaidya Manohar for several years.
