The Praxis Project, with the support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), created Communities Creating Healthy Environments (CCHE) to support community-based organizations and tribal groups to win policies that increase access to healthy food, safe places to play and physical activity at school. The first phase of CCHE realized 75 policy wins across 22 CCHE sites nationwide. CCHE, now in its 3rd cycle of funding, is pilot testing an effort to engage community advocates working to improve health outcomes for children 0 to 5 years of age.
In its evaluation, PARC will be utilizing a CBPR integrative mixed methods multi-year approach to measure progress with: 1) building the capacity of movement partners to become more effective advocates for environmental policy change; 2) advancing linkages among movement partners and supporting advocacy network expansion; 3) developing tools and resources for movement partners; and 4) improving equity practice in the field through documentation and dissemination of community defined and practiced-based strategies.
