Jennifer Garcia, Ph.D.
Senior Research Associate

Dr. García is a Senior Research Associate at the Psychology Applied Research Center. She has degrees in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles (Ph.D.) and the University of Michigan (M.P.H.), and Psychology from San Diego State University (B.A.). Dr. Garcia is a Public Health researcher with expertise on the social determinants of health, community organizing as a public health strategy, and systems change. Her research and professional training has explored the institutional and structural factors that contribute to racialized health disparities. As a mixed-methods researcher she works in applied research settings using community-based participatory approaches. Her research focuses on the social determinants and contextual factors that create urban inequality and contribute to health disparities. Specifically, her areas of interest include Critical Race Theory, residential segregation, and access to resources in communities of color.
