Jennifer Abe, Ph.D.

Dr. Abe joined the LMU Psychology Department in 1994. She served in the Dean’s Office as an associate dean from 2005-2010 and returned to the Department in fall 2010. In 2013, she moved to Córdoba, Argentina for three years, as a faculty co-director for LMU’s Casa Argentina study abroad program. She is a full professor in the Dept. of Psychology at LMU and served as the Associate Director of the National Research Center on Asian American Mental Health at UCLA helping to manage its post-doc training component. Her specialty/areas of interest are help seeking for mental health services among Asian Americans; cultural competence and mental health service delivery; culture, spirituality, place, and identity; and liberation psychologies
