Bernard Reyes, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Bernard Reyes is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at LMU’s Psychology Applied Research Center. He specializes in advanced quantitative and mixed-methods research to address a wide array of social justice issues, including racial disparities in mental health, education, and the labor market.
As a McNair Scholar, he published his first solo-authored research study in 2015, Effects of Teachers and Gang Presence on Delinquency and Academic Outcomes of Adolescents. He has since led state- and national-level postsecondary education research projects funded by the California State University Office of the Chancellor, U.S. Department of Education, National Institutes of Health, and Gates Foundation. His work has been featured at national conferences including those held at Stanford University, the American Educational Research Association (AERA), and the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) in Higher Education. Most recently, he co-authored a 2024 Weingart Foundation report on the current state of reparations efforts, post-Task Force, across California.
Dr. Reyes is a proud first-generation college graduate and first-generation American. He has five associate's degrees from American River College across various disciplines. He later graduated from California State University, Sacramento where he earned a BA in Psychology and MA in Education. He also has an MA and PhD in Higher Education and Organizational Change from the University of California, Los Angeles.
