Alumni Spotlight: Genelle Marshall-Singleton
Genelle Marshall-Singleton graduated from Loyola Marymount University in May 2024 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Biology. She currently works as a Public Health Advisor with the New York City Department of Health, where she supports frontline public health services through patient data verification, specimen processing in the lab, inventory management, and administrative coordination to ensure efficient and compassionate clinic operations.
A former Resident Advisor and Tomodachi Scholar, Marshall-Singleton developed strong leadership and cross-cultural competencies through community engagement and international exchange, including cultural immersion during a homestay in Japan. Marshall-Singleton views her civil service work as a meaningful avenue for supporting diverse communities and advancing public health access. Her advice to students is to not only focus on the career aspects of life, but also to nurture your personal relationships, as support systems are often what sustain us in our work.
