Policy

Review the academic policy on Unit Overloads.

Undergraduate students are eligible to enroll in 18 or more semester hours with the approval of their Dean’s Office beginning the second week prior to classes and running through the first week of the term.

To enroll in 19 or more semester hours, students must meet the following criteria:

  • A 3.50 overall GPA
  • Junior/Senior standing
  • A minimum of 15 semester hours completed during the prior full semester
  • A registration adjustment form to adjust hours signed by the Associate Dean’s office and submitted to the Office of the Registrar

Process

Visit the Registrar's "Forms" page and select the "Registrar Services Portal" to begin the process of requesting a Unit Overload. Upon submission students will receive a follow-up email from BCLA Advising requesting the following information:

  • A 4-Year Plan worksheet detailing your remaining terms at LMU.
  • A brief statement that explains why you are requesting an overload.

Unit overload requests are processed beginning two weeks prior to the start of the semester. Once additional materials are received students should receive a decision in 5-10 business days.

Pending approval students will be able add the overload course(s) via the registration portal on PROWL.

  • The prerequisites may be waived if there are extenuating circumstances for the student.
