Huffington Library Collection

Huffington Ecumenical Collection

One of the goals of the HEI is  to build a leading collection of library resources for the study and support of ecumenism, to be housed in LMU’s new Hannon Library. The library’s current holdings in the area of Eastern Christianity and ecumenism are good, but it is our intent to bring them up to the research level.

For this area of study, at least the most relevant materials from the Vatican II period onwards will be acquired, including German language investigations and explorations of Catholic-Orthodox ecumenism.

A second area of development will be holdings concerning contemporary Eastern Christianity, particularly in its development in the United States and the diaspora, and its engagement with contemporary pastoral issues.

Over time, holdings in Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox theology and its subdivisions, with English as the primary language for monographs and periodicals, will be brought up to a level which will allow an undergraduate theology major to have this area as a focus. These will be supplemented with graduate- and faculty-level materials for Master’s courses, as well as materials helpful for the research needs of scholars-in-residence.

For questions concerning the Huffington Collection at the Hannon Library, and suggestions of titles to acquire, please contact Tony Amodeo, Associate Librarian, Hannon Library (310 338 7681). Tony.Amodeo@lmu.edu
