Nyla Manuel is graduating in Spring 2022. During her time as an English M.A. student, she was accepted to the 36th Annual MELUS Conference in New Orleans, where she presented on a panel organized by Julia Lee. Their panel, "Black Girls and White Women" examined the fraught racial, socio-economic, and gender politics between Black girls and white women in literature, culture, and the classroom. For this and other achievements, Nyla was selected to receive an English department award at the annual commencement banquet.
