Prime of Life Yoga- Online Teacher Training

Certificate in Prime of Life Yoga

Prime of Life Yoga®: Yoga After 50 focuses on Yoga for midlife and beyond in the tradition of the contemporary teaching of Professor Sri T Krishnamacharya and his son SriTKV Desikachar.  Students will examine an overall lifestyle approach to Yoga that includes asana that is accommodating, covering everyday biomechanics, management of common aches and pains and weight reduction with Yoga, gait training, stress reduction and sleeping tips. By developing routines and behaviors that cultivate positive thinking and acceptance of the aging process, these students of yoga will gain a heightened sense of self-worth and peace of mind for mid-life and beyond.

Instructor Larry Payne, Ph.D. introduces the program

Midlife in America is changing. Men and women between the ages of “40 something” to “70 something” are more active and adventuresome than ever before. They represent the largest population growth segment for Yoga.

Prime of Life Yoga®: Yoga After 50 offers an overall lifestyle approach to Yoga that includes asana that is accommodating, covering everyday biomechanics, management of common aches and pains and weight reduction with Yoga, gait training, stress reduction and sleeping tips.

Who Should Participate

Prime of Life Yoga®: Yoga After 50 is a specialty program for dedicated students focusing on Yoga for midlife and beyond. Divided into four modules (levels 1-4), students complete partial home study combined with live online intensive courses.

Aspiring Yoga teachers can complete levels 1-4 for a 200-hour Yoga Teacher certificate (Yoga Alliance accredited). Students who completed any previous courses in levels 1-4 can be grandfathered in towards earning their 200-hour teaching credential.

Current Yoga Teachers who are looking to expand their skills to work with older populations whose needs differ from younger yoga students can take individual modules for continuing education credit.

Program Benefits

Students will be trained in techniques for teaching yoga to older populations whose needs differ from younger yoga students. By developing routines and behaviors that cultivate positive thinking and acceptance of the aging process, these students of yoga will gain a heightened sense of self-worth and peace of mind. Yoga Alliance has agreed to count this as continuing education credit for their program.
