Journalism student Erika Zaro spoke at the Dean’s List banquet on February 1st about her work reporting on Skid Row soup lines for Ky Henderson’s Investigative Reporting class.
“I was reminded of the importance of what my work…meant to those who are marginalized and shunned from society,” said Zaro. “This was only achieved through pushing myself outside of what I already knew.”
Zaro was among the students honored for making the BCLA Dean’s List in all her semesters at LMU. Logan Venhoff, ‘26, also attended, honored for making the Dean’s list his first semester. Journalism Professors Kevin Curran, Ky Henderson, and Evelyn McDonnell were there to support and represent LMU’s brand new Journalism department. Zaro also recently completed her capstone project on San Quentin News, a newspaper run by inmates at San Quentin State Prison dedicated to advancing social justice. Read more on her website.
