Drawing on his extensive work in Southeast Asian research and human rights advocacy, Sam Baron will discuss the evolving landscape of international policy. This talk explores the practical challenges of sustaining a commitment to human rights within the shifting priorities of the current U.S. administrative landscape.Join us for a critical look at the future of global diplomacy and the defense of human rights on the world stage.
Sam Baron is a researcher and policy analyst with experience working at the nexus of human rights and trade policy. Throughout his career, he has held policy-focused roles working on Southeast Asia and Japan for organizations including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The Asia Group, and U.S. State Department, and maintains affiliations with several research institutions focused on the Indo-Pacific region.
A specialist in the politics and foreign policy of Southeast Asia, his research and commentary on political, economic, and human rights developments across the ASEAN region have appeared in or been cited by global think tank and media outlets including Foreign Policy, The South China Morning Post, Nikkei Asia, the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), and Radio Free Asia, among others.
