The Global Policy Institute (GPI) and the Political Science & International Relations Department are proud to welcome LMU Alumna and Inaugural Undergraduate Research Fellow of GPI Tia Carr '21 back to the Bluff. She will present the findings of a recent report she co-authored with her team at World Food Program USA titled Dangerously Hungry: The Link Between Food Insecurity and Conflict, along with discussing other emerging themes in the global food policy space.
Tia Carr is the Senior Associate of Programs at World Food Program USA, bringing four years of experience in the public policy and advocacy space, particularly pertaining to food security.
Prior to joining World Food Program USA, Tia contributed research to policy publications with the Global Food Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies as their intern. Tia has also served as the inaugural Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Global Policy Institute (GPI) at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). She shaped the GPI to maximize student political engagement, facilitate live events, and contributed research to collaborative and multimedia projects. Tia concurrently served as a member of a student-run food justice service organization for three years, dedicated to establishing food security both on campus at LMU and in the greater Los Angeles area.
Tia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations with a minor in French from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.
