About the Global Policy Institute
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2015, the Global Policy Institute (GPI) at Loyola Marymount University is an unique interdisciplinary think tank in Los Angeles, which brings together faculty and students in developing and sharing innovative research and policy analysis to address emerging issues in global affairs. GPI and its Fellows are developing a scholarly policy network in Los Angeles, producing scholarship with a west coast perspective, and positioning LMU as a center for global policy discussions in the Los Angeles region and beyond. The Global Policy Institute hosts events to engage policy leaders, opinion makers, and researchers on emerging issues in global affairs.

Global Policy Course Development finds opportunities to enhance student global policy knowledge and develop courses on applying knowledge to addressing global issues though research, policy briefs, advocacy, and other means.
TRAINING YOUNG POLICY MAKERS
The Global Policy Institute offers undergraduate students the chance to build skills in global policy analysis through study abroad programs, internships and scholarships. A key priority is reinforcing the teacher-scholar model by encouraging meaningful collaboration between faculty and students. GPI faculty provide mentorship to undergraduate GPI fellows by helping them with professional development.
At GPI, students develop research through two primary paths. They can work on faculty-led projects and also pursue their own projects. Student fellows also have hands-on experience organizing events, helping with grants, etc.
The Global Policy Institute partners with the Institute for Leadership studies to provide students with opportunities to study abroad. Among its many student-centered offerings is a summer program at Oxford University. In addition, GPI and ILS sponsor two students each academic year as Hansard Fellows, where they take classes at the London School of Economics and Politics. These students also intern in the British House of Commons with Hon. Graham Allen, MP for Nottingham North.
