English Department Scholarships

Georgianna Atol Endowed Scholarship

The Georgianna Atol Endowed scholarship is designated for Undergraduate English majors pursuing a degree in teaching English and are enrolled in the LBST or STTP programs. Applicants must have financial need (FAFSA completed) and must be US citizens. This year, the department may award two $10,000 scholarships. This scholarship is renewable if the student continues to meet the criteria. To apply, send a letter of application stating your qualifications and include your student ID # to Dr. KJ Peters [kjpeters@lmu.edu], The Department of English.  

 

George F. Montgomery Scholarship

The George F. Montgomery Scholarship is designated for English majors, minors, or majors within BCLA and enrolled in an English class. This year, the department may award a $2000 scholarship. Applicants must submit an original Gothic horror short story or academic study of Gothic or horror fiction, excluding the works of Anne Rice and Stephanie Meyer. The submission must be longer than five pages. English Department Faculty will judge submissions. To apply, submit a letter of application, your student ID #, and an original Gothic horror short story or academic study of Gothic or horror fiction to Dr. KJ Peters [kjpeters@lmu.edu], The Department of English. 

 

B. Rollofson Endowed Scholarship

The B. Rollofson Endowed Scholarship is designated for English majors, minors, or majors within BCLA. Preference is for a member or applicant of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. This year, the department may award a scholarship of up to $2,000 to students who demonstrate financial need (FAFSA completed). To apply, send a letter of application stating your qualifications and include your student ID # to Dr. KJ Peters [kjpeters@lmu.edu ], The Department of English. 

 

The Knott Fellowships

The Knott Fellowships are made possible by a generous grant from Joe and Karen Knott who wish to enhance the education of LMU English majors by providing up to $3000 in financial support to prepare students for professional careers after graduation. Fellows receive one-on-one career development, including resume writing, ePortfolio building, internships, and other leadership opportunities.  Fellows also serve as ambassadors for the English Major at Department, College, and University events. These highly competitive and prestigious fellowships are for Senior English Majors only who may apply in the Spring of their Junior year.

 

The John E. Meehan Endowed Scholarship

The John E. Meehan Endowed Scholarship is a gift from Dr. Meehan. The application deadline is August 1, 2024.
