About Kyōdai
LMU Kyōdai is the Japanese Culture Club on the Loyola Marymount University campus. Kyōdai establishes itself as a learning community that focuses on promoting and learning, experiencing, and sharing traditional and popular Japanese culture from an outside perspective. We strive to provide our members with an open and welcoming environment for the communal exploration of Japanese culture through our general meetings, off-campus excursions to popular Japanese community hubs, and other special events such as our annual Japanese Culture Night (JCN).
Kyōdai means siblings in the Japanese language, and as our name states, we strive to build a close community in hopes to act as a home away from home. Our club also provides a means for people of all backgrounds to meet and get to know people who have a common interest in the Japanese and Japanese-American culture, whether it be the language, animation, music, history games, etc. Through the use of general meetings and events both on and off the LMU campus, we hope that with our engagement with each club member, a close communal environment is built that fosters friendship and passion for the Japanese culture among the API, LMU, and LA communities. Please enjoy your stay here!
