LMU's Modern Languages students learn to speak, understand, write, and analyze two foreign languages. Housed in the Modern Languages and Literatures department, the Modern Languages major program emphasizes intercultural awareness in addition to language skill; most Modern Languages students study abroad at least once and take advantage of research and community-based learning opportunities to study the cultures in which their chosen languages are spoken.
