YTI College Student Mentors

Meet the YTI Mentors for Summer 2016

Alejandra Angel
Graduate Student, Theology

Mentor Alejandra Angel

"My hope for the YTI is that the students come
with an open mind and heart.  I pray that
our week together may allow them to become
aware of God's love already at work in them
and their communities."

Genesis Arocho
Graduate Student, Theology

Mentor Genesis Arocho

"My hope for this institute is to start a conversation
with the teens about the "bigger picture" - whatever
that means to them.  And to also continue this
conversation back at their schools and parishes,
and to also encourage their peers to do the same."

Jelani Bramble-Manning
Undergraduate Student, Biology

Mentor Jelani Bramble-Manning

"I hope that everyone at the Youth Theology
Institute learns more about themselves and are
able to take and use what they learned in
their high schools and parishes.  Hopefully they
make some new friends and have fun through-
out their experience!"

Melissa Cedillo
Undergraduate Student, Theology

Mentor Melissa Cedillo

"My hope for those participating in the YTI is that
they are able to dig deeper and ask the questions
that matter - religion, social justice, and culture -
should always be questioned to allow us to
grow."

Christine Dennis
Graduate Student, Theology

Mentor Christine Dennis

"I am looking forward to sharing my passion for
spirituality and self-discovery.  I love using my
creative expression to serve others and bring
about positive change in the world.  I am
pursuing my Masters Degree in Comparative
Theology at LMU."

Kendra Glenn
Undergraduate Student, Elementary Education/
Liberal Studies and Spanish

Mentor Kendra Glenn

"I hope that the students are able to develop
a greater understanding of the link between
religion and spirituality.  I also hope they
discover a sense of identity and discern their
vocations in life."

Facundo Icardi-Gonzalez
Undergraduate Student, Theology

Mentor Facundo Icardi-Gonzalez

"I hope the YTI helps to address those
"big questions," creating lasting relationships
and helping each participant to find where they
are in their journey of faith."

Audrey Harris
Graduate Student, Theology

Mentor Audrey Harris

"I look forward to sharing the principles of faith and
spirituality in a setting where growth and
transcendence can occur.  I expect it to be a
magical journey."

John Paul Ramirez
Graduate Student, Theology

Mentor John Paul Ramirez

"I hope the students in my group leave YTI
feeling encouraged to ask new questions about
their faith . . . and challenged, yet empowered,
to always act for justice."

Timothy Vassallo
Undergraduate Student, Film & Television Production
and History

Mentor Timothy Vassallo

"I hope that students will arrive ready to learn and
grow in their faith.  Also, that they can bring what
they've learned back to their communities and
families."
