About Yoga Studies

Beyond the Program

In addition to the main coursework and certificate programs, LMU'S MA in Yoga Studies program offers opportunities to participate in the community both here and abroad.

ISSJS - Jain Studies Program: India Immersion

Through the ISSJS program our MA candidates are provided the opportunity to learn about Jaina Yoga in India as part of the summer school program.

ISSJS also offers additional programs for students not enrolled in the LMU MA Yoga Studies Program. Those include Teaching for Peace, an immersion experience in practical nonviolence for classroom educators and both four and six week immersion experiences for students of all levels in Jainism.

The Prison Yoga Project

This trauma-informed program introduces students to techniques for offering Yoga to prison inmates as well others in sensitive, high intensity settings. Students have the opportunity to volunteer teach in a local woman's prison.

11th Step Yoga: Yoga for Recovery

This program trains teachers to bring Yoga tools to populations in various forms of recovery. Those participating will have the chance to learn directly from the founder, and MA in Yoga Studies candidate, Abbie Britton with the intention to eventually serve the LMU undergraduate community.
