In Between

by Elhum Yaghoobian

You need to grow up and see
All the missing pieces in your life,
Oh wait, I thought that was me.
You lied to me about her
You thought it was the only way to keep me
I thought I was the one
But I was just the girl in between
Someone who just wouldn't mean a thing.
All she does is tease you
She comes and goes just to please you
She continues to break your heart
But you're just way too far in to ever be apart.
You told all your friends you were playing me
Of course, I was just the girl in between
Someone who just wouldn't mean a thing.
Oh how wrong I was by just getting involved
I saw something in you, and knew it was too good to be true
I gave you a chance to prove me wrong
But all you did was prove that I was right all along.
So when they ask who that girl was in between
The answer will always be me.
