The Psychology Department through donors, offers the following awards to Psychology Majors.
Dr. Rose Patricia Walsh Research Award
Summary: Awarded to recognize an outstanding student researcher.
Who can apply: Students are nominated by the Psychology Department Faculty.
Criteria: Highly qualified student researcher. Weight in selection is given to the student who develops his/her own research question/idea and/or whose work results in subsequent publication(s) and presentation(s). The award itself would be intrinsically rewarding, but it comes with a monetrary award of $250 and a plaque.
Mary Kretschmar Scholarship
Summary: Awarded to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students.
Who can apply: Undergraduate students in Psychology.
Statement Criteria: Provide a statement of your need, career goals, and service involvement.
Reverend Peter Ciklic Memorial Scholarship Fund
Summary: This scholarship was established in memory of the late Peter Ciklic, founding member of the LMU Psychology Department in the 1950's. The recipient of this scholarship
embodies the idea of excellence, so esteemed by Fr. Ciklic.
Who can apply: Students majoring in Psychology.
Statement Criteria: Provide supportive evidence that attests to your need, excellence in academics, potential career in psychology, and/or involvement in issues of social justice, service and leadership.
Stewart Kessler Memorial Fund
Summary: This scholarship was established to perpetuate the memory of Stewart Kessler and his ideas.
Who can apply: Minority students in Psychology who display financial need, and whose emphasis is in a
field of social justice.
Statement Criteria: Provide supportive evidence that attests to your financial need, and provide supportive evidence of your emphasis in social justice.

Please be aware that any awards you receive will be coordinated with the office of Financial Aid, and may not increase the total amount of aid for which you qualify. You must have filed a F.A.F.S.A. 2007 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) with the Financial Aid office for us to be able to document your approved need. For questions on F.A.F.S.A. please contact the Financial Aid office.
