 Development Intern

Global Green USA is offering an internship opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students interested in gaining practical experience within an environmental non-profit organization.  Duties will focus on a project to redesign processes and data associated with Global Green’s fundraising activities.  Interns participate in a variety of activities that support both organizational and individual development. 

Duties:
Organize and document processes and data associated with fundraising activities; maintain and update databases; assist with data entry into The Raiser's Edge, the premier technical platform for non-profit organizations; conduct solicitation and research calls to constituents

Eligibility:  Must be at least a junior undergraduate in good standing or a graduate student interested in sustainability, nonprofit management or development.
Excellent writing and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently and to take initiative on specific tasks; ability to synthesize large amounts of data.
Comfortable with technology and using software applications; working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel or other spreadsheet applications; knowledge of relational databases a plus.

Time Commitment:
Must commit to at least 10-15 hours a week for a period of 3-6 months. Exact hours to be determined with intern and academic institution.

Compensation:
Academic credit is available. Please work out academic credit details with your academic institution. There is no monetary compensation or housing provided by Global Green USA.

Online, Social Media & Communications Intern

Duties:
• Video and photo cataloging and archiving of Global Green’s digital assets
• Labeling and cataloging photos on Global Green’s Flickr account
• Assisting with writing, editing, and researching blog posts for the Global Green website
• Shooting flip cam video and taking photos at events, editing, and posting online
• Event production, research and outreach 
• Maintaining and updating databases 
• Background calls to press 
• Writing, editing for web content, newsletters, blog content and social networking sites such as Facebook Twitter, crowdrise, etc.
• Creating promotional/proposal materials for events and corporate outreach

Eligibility: Must be at least a junior undergraduate in good standing or a graduate student interested in the environment and social media. Should have a background in communications or media. Excellent writing and communication skills, good design skills, able to work independently, attention to detail, the ability to take initiative on specific projects. Computer programming skills a plus. Must be locally based in Los Angeles.

Time Commitment:
Must commit to at least 10-15 hours a week for a period of 3-6 months. Exact hours to be determined with intern and academic institution.

Part-Time Policy & Legislative Affairs Internship

Global Green USA's Policy and Legislative Affairs Department seeks an intern for a minimum of three months to assist with Global Green USA's various policy and advocacy initiatives on green schools/buildings, transportation, renewable energy, and climate change. This is an ongoing internship position.

Duties: Responsibilities include assisting in outreach and public awareness efforts, research on policy issues, attending meetings on relevant topics and general office administrative tasks.

 Eligibility: Graduate or undergraduate. Academic credit possible.

 Requirements: Positive attitude, ability to communicate effectively, and public speaking skills are important. Strong writing skills also important. Applicant should have knowledge of or interest in climate change, green building, transportation, renewable energy policy issues. Ability to work independently a must. Automobile preferred.

 Time Commitment: Minimum 15 hours/week. Full time position available at 25 hours/week minimum.

Foundations Department Fund Development Internship

Global Green USA's Foundations Department seeks an intern to work directly with the Foundation Relations Manager to research and identify potential funding opportunities to support Global Green USA’s programmatic and operational activities. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in working in the nonprofit sector. He or she will obtain highly sought-after skills, including fundraising, cultivation, and outreach. This is a hands-on role within a multi-disciplinary team.

Duties:

  • Fundraising research to identify donor prospects: foundations and corporations whose funding portfolios align directly with Global Green’s efforts
  • Prepare draft language for letters of inquiry and/or email communications to prospect funders based on research conducted
  • Research community foundations and giving clubs that might support Global Green’s efforts
  • Support the Foundation Relations Manager in other aspects such as preparing donor communications
  • Review draft report and proposal narratives
  • Develop a master list of prospective institutional funders of Global Green’s work by category/program
  • Perform other activities as appropriate


Eligibility: Current enrollment in, or alumni of, an undergraduate or graduate program. Academic credit is possible. The ideal Fund Development Intern should share Global Green’s commitment to fostering a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure future. Events & Fundraising Internship

Global Green USA is offering an internship opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students interested in gaining practical experience within an environmental nonprofit organization. The right candidate would be detail oriented and highly motivated individual, who is interested in learning the nuances of event production and nonprofit fundraising to support Global Green’s Events Manager with event logistics and fundraising. Must be able to work in fast paced environment, set priorities and be punctual in completing assignments. Events & Fundraising intern must also be creative and resourceful, have excellent research skills, impeccable phone manners, and possess the ability to think on both a macro and micro level.

Duties:

  • Follow up on event inquiries from potential donors, vendors, attendees, etc.
  • Tracking and organizing data
  • Managing shipments and deliveries
  • Detailed online research
  • Various other assignments as needed


Eligibility:

  • Must be at least a junior undergraduate in good standing or a graduate student interested in sustainability, nonprofit management or development, previous Events experience a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently and to take initiative on specific tasks
  • Comfortable with technology, strong working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel or other spreadsheet applications; knowledge of relational databases a plus; Power Point & Internet research proficiency required.
  • Must be locally based in Los Angeles area and able to commute to office located in Santa Monica


Time Commitment: Must commit to at least 10-15 hours a week for a period of 3-6 months. Preferred schedule is 2-3 days a week, at least four hours per day, leading up to two major fundraising events in December when hours might increase. Global Green USA's Communications, Marketing and Corporate Relations team is seeking an intern to work in the Santa Monica office.

 

Responsibilities: Assist Communications, Marketing and Corporate Relations team with research, analysis, tracking and outreach, and administrative tasks.

 

Eligibility: Candidates must be pursuing a college degree in related field. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, reliable and flexible. Must have outstanding communications skills. Must be locally based in Los Angeles.

 

Time Commitment: 20 hours per week in the office, for a minimum two-month commitment.
