EQCA Field Internship

Location: West Hollywood, California


Equality California (EQCA) is the largest statewide LGBT civil rights advocacy organization in California working to secure full and lasting equality for and acceptance of LGBT people. An internship with EQCA’s Field Department provides college students with the opportunity to advance LGBT equality by providing essential support for our legislative advocacy efforts, electoral work, and public education activities focused on the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare.


  • Demonstrate a strong passion for LGBT equality and civil rights.
  • Ability to be a team player and work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with men and women of diverse ethnicities, race, age, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
  • Prior experience working in the LGBT community is a plus.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Help build visible support for LGBT equality.
  • Engage our members to ensure our pieces of legislation are enacted into law
  • Participate in organizing political outreach actions for EQCA’s PAC-endorsed candidates for federal, state, and local offices.
  • Help identify uninsured and underinsured Californians to enroll in the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare.
  • Help identify undocumented individuals to link them to community clinics.

Terms of Internship

Internships are provided on a Quarterly and Semester basis depending on the interns’ academic calendar. Interns will be required to complete 8-25 hours a week. The internship is unpaid but interns may receive class credit.
