Ivy A.M. Cargile is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Politics & Policy at Claremont Graduate University (CGU).  Her research interests include issues surrounding Political Incorporation & Participation, Race & Ethnic Politics and Public Opinion.  She is currently working on a research project discussing the importance of patriotism for Latinos who are naturalized citizens as well as native-born citizens.  She is also working towards getting a co-authored research paper published that discusses the effects of the media on the political participation of Americans when it comes to the issue of immigration.  Her dissertation will focus on the process of incorporation and participation of females who have had a previous, negative encounter with the Criminal Justice system. 

Outside of the world of Political Science she enjoys working with undergraduate students who are looking towards attending graduate school.  She currently works with the McNair Scholars Program at CGU where she is in the process of organizing an undergraduate student conference.
