The Blended Social Science Teacher Preparation Program Undergraduate-Level Coursework Plan
The LMU Social Science Teacher Preparation Program is designed for students who anticipate teaching history and social science in grades 6-8, or 9-12 in school settings that are departmentalized. Because of the rigorous standards set by the State of California for teacher credentialing, the SSTP Program at LMU is very specific in terms of the coursework you will be taking. With careful planning, however, it is possible to complete a History major, the University’s Core Curriculum requirements, the SSTP Program’s subject-matter courses, and the School of Education’s required courses in four years, (eight semesters). Students with a History major, choosing to complete this blended four-year plan , will fulfill all of the required coursework at the undergraduate level that will lead to a B.A. degree, with a major in History, and the California 2042 Preliminary History/Social Science Single-Subject Credential.
