About the Global Policy Institute

MISSION

The mission of the Global Policy Institute at Loyola Marymount University is to develop and share innovative research and policy analysis that addresses emerging issues in global affairs. Sponsored by Loyola Marymount University, the Global Policy Institute advances the University’s commitments to academic excellence and global citizenship, serving as a global policy resource for students, policy makers and the Los Angeles public. 

WHO WE ARE

Global Policy Institute is a new interdisciplinary think tank in Los Angeles that applies rigorous academic research to help solve global policy challenges. Global Policy Institute and its Fellows are developing a scholarly policy network in Los Angeles, producing scholarship and hosting events to engage policy leaders, opinion makers, and researchers on emerging issues in global affairs.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP ON EMERGING ISSUES

The Global Policy Institute's blog brings the latest research and insights of its Fellows and LMU faculty into the global policy conversation.

Global Policy Institute events will bring together top thinkers and policy makers to address emerging issues of global concern.

The Global Policy Institute Power Index will offer academics and policy researchers a new tool to compare power and quality of life among nations worldwide.

TRAINING YOUNG POLICY MAKERS

Global Policy Institute offers undergraduate students the chance to build skills in global policy analysis through study abroad programs, internships and scholarships. Among its many student-centered offerings is a summer program at Oxford University. The Global Policy Institute also sponsors two students each academic year as Hansard Fellows where they take classes at the London School of Economics and Politics and intern in the British House of Commons with Hon. Graham Allen, MP for Nottingham North, and a Global Policy Institute non-resident Fellow.
