Writing Retreat
BCLA WRITING RETREAT
In light of the goals of the BCLA Strategic Plan, to “Support BCLA faculty to thrive in their scholarly, teaching, and service activities throughout different stages in their professional careers (Initiative 3)” and to “Cultivate a vibrant intellectual climate that fosters excellence, creativity, and collaboration in the BCLA community (Initiative 4),” the College is pleased to pilot a new program this semester. BCLA tenured/tenure-track faculty are invited to participate in a weekend of scholarly writing, conversation with colleagues, and quiet/solitude. Up to nine faculty members will retreat to Montecito, CA together on the beautiful grounds of the Immaculate Heart Community, Center for Spiritual Renewal. (http://www.immaculateheartcenter.org/ourretreathouse.html).
If you need time, space, and quiet to work on a writing project, whether preparing a journal article, reading materials, working on a book manuscript, or writing poetry, consider joining us for the weekend. You will have private room accommodations and share all meals with your colleagues. Internet access is available. Jeffrey Wilson will serve as facilitator for the weekend.
You are responsible for your own transportation (mileage will not be paid) to and from the Center, but the cost of food and accommodations for the weekend will be covered by the College.
