Beginning Fall 2013, the university will transition into a new core curriculum program. Students in the classes of 2016 and 2017 will automatically be enrolled in the new core, and students in the classes of 2014 and 2015 will have the option to switch from the old to new core program. The English department will be involved in the teaching of the First-Year Seminar, the Rhetorical Arts course, Creative Experience courses, and flagged courses.
Faculty and students can become familiar with the new core requirements by reading the following documents:
This is a short flyer about the new core, which includes information about the basic principles of the program and directions for finding classes in the new core.
This is a longer information guide about the new core program. It includes information about the general principles of the program, required classes in the program, and frequently asked questions about the program.
This file includes course descriptions for First-Year Seminars that will be taught by English faculty in Fall 2013.
