Funding and Fellowship Opportunities

Teaching Fellowship:
Serve as Writing Instructor in Freshman Core courses
      -TFs are paid about $22,000 per academic year
      -TFs must be full-time students
      -workload averages 10 hours per week
Application requirement
     -resume or c.v.
     -a one-page letter that expresses why you are interested in the position and any  
       teaching, tutoring, or leadership positions that you believe will contribute to 
       teaching
     -at least one letter of recommendation that supports your application for a TF, 
      preferably someone familiar with your experiences in teaching, tutoring and/or 
      leadership (this letter can be one of the two letters of recommendation required for admission)

Community Relations Intern:
Work for the Graduate Director and the Associate Dean coordinating engaged learning projects for graduate students, forging relationships with non-profit and volunteer organizations, and maintaining connections with community organizations for future service learning projects. 
      -intern is paid about $12,000 per academic year
      -intern must be full-time student
      -workload averages 10-20 hours per week

Writing and Journalism Internship:
Responsible for various writing, journalism, and promotional activities, including assisting with editorial duties, reviewing manuscripts, and author correspondence at the Marymount Institute Press at LMU
     -intern is paid about $12,000 per academic year
     -intern must be full-time student
     -workload averages 10-20 hours per week

Graduate Assistantship:
Work for the Graduate Director coordinating graduate student events, design promotional flyers, manage the program’s advertising and program web site, prepare information packets, conduct research for Graduate Director
     -GA is paid about $12,000 per academic year
     -GA must be full-time student
     -workload averages 15-20 hours per week

Library Intern in Hannon Library’s Special Collections
Manage appointments for visitors to the archive, update and download available texts for the library’s database, work with other special collection librarians to learn archiving and textual research skills
     -intern is paid about $12,000 per academic year
     -intern must be a full-time student
     -workload averages 15-20 hours per week

Department Scholarship
Merit based scholarship awarded by the department on a yearly basis.  All applicants and current graduate students must submit this Scholarship Application by March 15.

Travel Request Form
Funding available for conference presentations.  Each student is limited to one conference per year, the student must be presenting, and a report is due after the conference.  Travel Request Form must be submitted as soon as possible. 

Spring Writing and Research Grant    
The Spring 2013 Writing and Research Grant is awarded for research and writing, which may include travel to research site(s) or conference(s) and/or supplemental income to support the writing and revising of a research paper or creative writing.  Deadline to apply is April 1, 2013.
