Literature Emphasis

The Literature Emphasis offers a range of coursework in the Anglo-American tradition, including multiethnic literatures we recognize as an integral part of the canon. In addition to strong background in major periods, authors, and genres, the Emphasis offers innovative classes on topics including Shipwrecks and Cannibals, War and Theatre, Invisible Geographies, Surrealism, Caribbean Lit., Gay and Lesbian Writers, and more. Intensive work with Faculty in our small department is encouraged, and Independent Studies on special topics may be arranged.
