SHE ALONE, a book-length sequence, traces the life of an imaginary woman from birth to death and beyond, capturing the changing moods and circumstances of this enigmatic, nameless woman and her lifelong struggle to find fulfillment, connection, and a stable sense of her own place and identity in a rapidly changing world. The STAGED READING, produced by John Menaghan & Maria Biber-Ferro, will feature 8 Los Angeles area actors of various ages and ethnicities performing the sequence. The performance involves a blend of single-voiced, duet, and multi-voiced renditions of the various pieces, involving an ever-changing array of topics and providing a dynamic account, from multiple perspectives, of one woman’s journey through life. A discussion and reception will follow the performance.

Writer/Director John Menaghan is the author of two books of poetry and winner of an Academy of American Poets Prize and other awards. Kirkus Reviews has described his work as “quite wonderful.” He is also the author of several short plays--one of which was recently performed on the same bill with work by Neil Simon and John Patrick Shanley--and he is currently completing his first full-length play, set in Berkeley in the spring of 1974. A professor in the Department of English at Loyola Marymount University, Menaghan is also Director of the Irish Studies & Summer in Ireland programs & the annual LMU Irish Cultural Festival.
