Tomo Hattori, visiting assistant professor, B.A., University of Toronto; M.A. and Ph.D., McMaster University.

Professor Hattori specializes in American literature of the 20 th century. His work on writing by Maxine Hong Kingston, Joy Kogawa, Kazuo Ishiguro, Winnifred Eaton (Onoto Watanna), and Catherine Liu has appeared in the journals differences: A Journal of Feminist Cultural Studies, NOVEL: A Forum on Fiction, and the anthology Other Sisterhoods: Literary Theory and U.S. Women of Color (U of Illinois P). He is currently writing a book on the poetics of assimilation in Asian American literature. His areas of interest include Asian American and other U.S. minority literatures, Anglophone colonial and postcolonial literatures, literary theory and cultural studies.
