Bioethics Roundtables
Bioethics Roundtables (BRs) are opportunities for LMU students (graduate and undergraduate), faculty, administrators, collaborators from local medical centers, and others to engage in thoughtful discussion on contemporary topics in bioethics. Each roundtable consists of a short presentation by a speaker followed by an audience discussion of the topic presented. Previous topics include the following: moral significance of biological information, chimera research, medical futility, decision-making for unrepresented/unbefriended patients, and access to health care and social justice.
The Bioethics Institute hosts approximately three roundtables per academic year: one in the Fall semester and two in the Spring semester. Roundtables occur outside of the Seidler Seminar Room adjacent to the Bioethics Institute in University Hall Suite 4500. Bioethics Roundtables are free and open to the public. Light refreshments are served. Parking is also free on P2 or P3 of University Hall.
If you would like to attend, please notify MaryAnne Walter at mwalter@lmu.edu prior to the event. Prof. Nick Kockler coordinates the Bioethics Roundtables; for more information, one can reach him at nkockler@lmu.edu or 310-338-6434. Click here for flier.
