ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A completed application to the Master of Arts in Bioethics Program.
- Two official copies of transcripts of each college or university attended as evidence of a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- The General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (Waived for applicants who already have a terminal degree, e.g., MD or JD, or who already have a graduate degree, e.g., M.A.) (In most cases, the MCAT or LSAT tests can be substituted for the GRE exam).
- Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
- Two letters of recommendation from persons acquainted with the applicant’s professional and academic background.
- A personal statement, of no more than four typed single-spaced pages, addressing the following three areas: 1. the applicant’s academic and/or professional background; 2. why the applicant wishes to pursue graduate studies in bioethics at LMU; and 3. how the applicant intends to use the degree after graduation.
- Personal Interview (In some cases, this can be done over the phone).
All applicants for admission to the master’s degree program are required to submit a
Graduate Division Application and $50.00 fee. All materials should be sent directly to the Graduate Admissions Office. Applicants who have applied for admission may be formally admitted or may be required to fulfill prerequisites before being formally admitted.
The application form for admission must be received in the Graduate Admission Office. Applications received will be reviewed on an individual basis. All supporting materials as part of the application process, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation, can be sent in any time of the year. The applications are reviewed and considered on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Students may take graduate courses in non-degreed status with the permission of the Graduate Director and the Professor. They must fill out and turn in the non-degree status formto the Graduate Admission Office.
